It all started with a spark of inspiration from Damon Bail, the VP of Retail Operations & Marketing, who stumbled upon a video featuring a restroom disco in a foreign restaurant. Seeing the potential for something truly special, Damon envisioned bringing this unexpected delight to the world of convenience stores. And Bam, the idea for HOP Shops’ Disco Bathrooms was born.
On February 17, 2023, history was made as the very first Disco Bathrooms were launched at the Verona HOP Shops. With iconic tunes like “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees setting the mood, customers found themselves grooving in a whole new way while taking care of business. And the rest, as they say, is history.
From TikTok sensations to local news features, the Disco Bathrooms quickly became a cultural phenomenon. One particularly memorable moment was when our beloved frog mascot, Hopper, made his own viral appearance in the Verona disco bathroom, proving that even frogs know how to bust a move.
As the disco fever spread, more HOP Shops locations joined the party, each with its own signature song to keep the vibes flowing. From Rihanna’s “Diamonds” in Florence to Abba’s “Dancing Queen” in Carrollton, every Disco Bathroom had its own unique flair, adding to the magic of the experience.
But it wasn’t just about the music and flashing lights – the Disco Bathrooms became a place of joy, laughter, and even inspiration. Scott Blandford’s incredible weight loss stories and encouragment of exercising, documented through selfie videos in the mirror, showed the power of positivity and self-expression. And let’s not forget about Alex Hudson, who turned her love for the Disco Bathrooms into a mission of self-acceptance and empowerment, along with a disco tour.

And just when we thought things couldn’t get any groovier, we made history once again with the first-ever Disco Bathroom wedding on Valentine’s Day. Logen & Tiana said “I do” surrounded by disco lights and the infectious energy of HOP Shops’ most beloved creation.
